LG was founded 1958 and originated as a producer of radios, TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners. LG has recently started to make quality Solar batteries such as the RESU 10. LG has four different business districts Home Entertainment, Mobile Communications, Home Appliances & Air Solutions, and Vehicle Components. The Korean factories of LG produce the RESU 6.5. The company was established after the Korean war as a way of providing products for the Korean people at an affordable price. During the past 50 years LG has expanded and bought a number of smaller companies from all over the world.
The RESU 10 is a Korean made solar battery pack, containing cells made by the company Longi and contains 9.8 kWh and can be installed alongside another RESU10 with a capacity of 9.8kWh. The RESU 10 use a NMC based cell (lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide) this improves their specific energy as well as prolonging their lifespan and is the cell type of choice for electric cars such as Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt and BMW i3. It also has a runaway temperature of 210 °C and has been recently increasing its market share. Due to the way the cells within the RESU 10 have been placed the risk of a safety issue is very low. Due to the RESU 10’s compact frame it can be mounted on the side of a garage or driveway without the risk of hitting it. The battery has a water resistance rating of IP55. And is cooled via natural air flow that blows onto the slit shaped batterys that have the maxium surface area in order to make sure that the batterys heat up as little as possible.
