Description
The new Sunny Boy series of inverters have replaced the dated “TL” series. There has been a lot of discussion about this new series of inverters in the solar industry. The connectivity innovation into smart homes is new and groundbreaking. With real time monitoring SMA will notify you of any issues before you know about them, and arrange warranties automatically if needed. It is the first inverter without the option for a screen, and has just 3 operational lights. This Inverter is not for everyone. But if you own a smart phone, tablet or laptop this inverter is awesome.
With the inbuilt wifi, connecting to your homes router, the system is connected to “Sunny Portal” a SMA site that gives you real time energy production, and allows you to change your settings, or operate electrical appliances in your home. Yes, that’s correct, this system when you add a Sunny Home Manager, a small box next to your circuit breakers will allow you to set up the operation of appliances like your dishwasher, washing machine, hot water system, and pool.
Why is this necessary you may ask?. Most houses with solar are currently selling into the grid there excess energy for approximately 6 cents per kwh, and when they arrive home after work, then turn on appliances and pay 24 cents per Kwh. So with this in mind SMA have developed Sunny Home manager, which is linked to the SMA invertet. You can set the parameters of the inverter and home manger in the software package Sunny portal. For example, if you need clean dishes when you arrive home, and know your dishwasher uses 2kw of energy, when there is a spare 2kw of energy being produced, by sung a smart switch, the Home manager will switch on your dishwasher.
This will allow most houses to save a considerable amount on there power bills, and utilize there solar more efficiently. Im excited as this is a breakthrough in energy management that will revolutionalise how energy Is used in the home.
More exciting, is its possible to retrofit Sunny Home manager on all existing inverters, to maximize the efficiency of all solar in every way.
