Company Profile
In 1945, Günter Fronius (1907-2015) and his wife Friedl set up Fronius International GmbH in Pettenbach. Günter Fronius occupied himself with the development of battery charging systems in an electrical business. A little later, he employed 15 people. In the mid-1960s, the company started to manufacture electronics and welding torches. In 1972, Fronius opened a second site in Thalheim, near Wels, and moved production there. Günter Fronius handed over the management of the business to his two children in 1980, and from then on the company focused more and more on expansion and internationalisation. Sites were opened in Austria and beyond in the years that followed. At the same time, Fronius expanded into the fields of welding technology and battery charging technology. Photovoltaics became a new focus in 1992. In 2001, Fronius opened a factory in Pettenbach, the town in which the company started. The logistics and production site at Sattledt was opened in 2007. With the capture of the American market between 2002 and 2007, the company has now gained a foothold outside Europe.
The Fronius GEN24 Hybrid Inverters are compatible with LG Chem and BYD batteries.
At UV Power we believe that Fronius make the best inverters in the Solar industry. Over 80% of our inverters sold are Fronius due to them being so good. We replace a lot of inverters in this business and 90% of those are Chinese made from budget solar companies gone out of business. If people spent a bit more on quality up front, they would have a reliable system that lasts for years.
Fronius does cost more, but the value they offer is greater than any inverter on the market. The life cycle cost is less, as no need to replace after a few years and technology superior to anything else on offer.
The first delivery is expected mid 2020, and we have been waiting for a very long research, development and testing phase. Being Austrian, they do not rush a product to market without knowing 100% everything is perfect.
The Gen 24 product range is integrated with the Fronius Solar web and can mold into other Fronius products such as their hot water diverter, the Ohm Pilot and EV Chargers. Personally we prefer the Zappi EV Charger which can be run from 100% solar.
The Fronius GEN24 Plus is the versatile hybrid inverter with integrated back-up power and thus offers the best flexible solution for solar energy supply.
The inverters are easy to use and have many innovative features. For example, the individual emergency power variants ensure a very high degree of supply reliability in the home. One of the innovations, the PV Point, provides a basic emergency power supply, even without a battery.
For customers who already have a storage system, the devices offer a tried-and-tested full back-up solution that can supply the entire household with emergency power.
MAXIMUM INDEPENDENCE THANKS TO CUSTOM BACK-UP POWER VARIANTS
Most Hybrid Solar inverters offer limited backup supply, which usually feeds two limited circuits. In most cases we install onto the lighting circuit and the dedicated fridge circuit. Thanks to the Fronius GEN24 Plus, energy security is no longer simply a question of cost: Whether a battery was fitted when the PV system was installed or added later – the GEN24 Plus always deliver the most appropriate back-up power solution.
Multi Flow Technology means that loads can be supplied with energy and the battery can be simultaneously charged during power outages. This results in a longer-lasting back-up power supply and a higher degree of self-supply.
PV POINT
The integrated basic grid back-up – a socket that is supplied with power during power outages – ensures that important loads can continue to operate should the power fail. The PV Point can be used with as well as without battery. Basically a power point is provided so in blackouts you can plug in essential items with a extension cord.
