SolaX Binary EV Charger

A two-way home charger. It charges the car like any other charger, and when the car supports vehicle-to-load, it can send power from the car back into the house, even in a blackout. It works through a SolaX hybrid inverter.

Your car can help run the house

Most home chargers only send power one way, into the car. The Binary goes both ways. It charges the car at anything from 1.4 kW up to 22 kW (22 kW needs three-phase power), and can put spare solar into the car first. To send power back, it uses the vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature many electric cars already have, and feeds that power to your SolaX hybrid inverter, which uses it to run the house alongside your solar and battery.

So the car's battery can help power the house in the evening or in a blackout, and you can set the times for the car to charge and to give power back. SolaX says that because the charger stays within the limits the car maker already built into vehicle-to-load, it stays inside the car's own warranty terms. It's still worth checking with your car's maker.

The charger and your SolaX home battery run in one app, SolaXCloud, where you can see what the car has taken and what it has given back.

Worth knowing first. It only works with cars that have vehicle-to-load: SolaX names several Kia, Hyundai and BYD models, but not every electric car has it. It only helps while the car is home and plugged in, and how much power the car can give back depends on the car's own vehicle-to-load rating. It needs a SolaX hybrid inverter: the X1-VAST or X3-HYB-G4 PRO now, with the X3-ULTRA to follow, SolaX says. And it is vehicle-to-home, not vehicle-to-grid: the car powers your house, it doesn't sell power to the grid. We check your car and your system before we quote.
