GoodWe Vela Solar Carport

Solar where your roof can't fit it. The Vela is GoodWe's home solar carport: its Polaris panels are the roof, so the car parks under its own little power station. We install both the single and the double.

What the Vela is

The Vela is a carport kit from GoodWe's PV Building Materials range. An aluminium frame on a galvanised steel base carries GoodWe's own Polaris 535 W panels, and the panels themselves form the waterproof roof. No glue, and a gutter comes in the kit.

There are two sizes: a single for one car and a double for two. Both are 6.5 m long, and the height adjusts, which helps on a sloping driveway.

It connects to your switchboard through an inverter like any other solar system, and GoodWe offers it alongside its own inverters, batteries and HCA G2 EV charger, so the whole setup can come from one brand.

Panel warranty

15-year product warranty and 30-year power output warranty on the Polaris panels, with at least 87.4% of rated output in year 30. That's GoodWe's Polaris warranty for Australia and New Zealand.

Carport warranty

GoodWe's Australian flyer carries a 15-year warranty mark for the Vela. GoodWe only hands out the full carport warranty on request, so ask us for the terms before you sign.

STC rebate

GoodWe lists the Vela as STC eligible, so the small-scale solar rebate can come off the price like it does on a rooftop system. We confirm the figure for your system in your quote.

Why a Solar Carport?

A driveway you already have, turned into a place that makes power.

Solar without the roof

Shaded, full, old or awkward roof? The Vela puts the panels over the driveway instead, and uses no roof space at all.

Cover for the car

Shade and shelter for the car from the sun and the rain, under a roof that makes power while the sun's up.

Charge the EV where it parks

Run the Vela through a compatible GoodWe inverter, add a GoodWe HCA G2 charger, and the car can charge on spare solar from the panels right above it.

A frame GoodWe rates for wind

GoodWe rates the Vela frame to 240 km/h winds. Any engineering certification or council approval your block needs is yours to arrange (see Before You Buy below).

A tidy, simple kit

An aluminium frame on a galvanised steel base, panels that clamp on, and the whole lot supplied as one package.

Ideal For

Homes with a shaded, full or awkward roof
Houses that need more solar than the roof can hold
Driveways with room for the 6.5 m frame
Anyone adding an EV charger at home
The Process

How It Works

The Vela connects to your switchboard through an inverter, the same as a rooftop system. It powers the house first, sends the extra to the grid or into a battery, and with an EV charger fitted, into the car.

Before we quote, we come out and look at your site: where the posts would go, how the driveway falls, what's overhead and how the power gets back to the switchboard.

Engineering certification and council approval, if your block needs them, are arranged by you, not by us. Check with your council early, so you know what's involved before you sign anything.

For the price, contact us for a quote. It depends on the size, your site and what you pair it with, so we quote each one rather than list a number here, and every price we give includes GST.

Ian's takeGoodWe Vela solar carport

“The Vela is a carport and a solar system in one. The panels are the roof, so there's no sheeting, and it's a great option if your roof's already full or faces the wrong way.”

Ian Gittus, Founder of UV Power

Ian's personal opinion, in his own words.
