Fronius Inverter Overview
Fronius is an Austrian manufacturer and one of the most respected names in solar inverter technology. Their residential range includes the Fronius Primo (single-phase), Fronius Symo (three-phase), and the newer Fronius Gen24 Plus (hybrid, battery-compatible). All Fronius inverters are backed by a minimum 5-year warranty, extendable up to 15 years.
Understanding Your Inverter Display
Your Fronius inverter has a circular LED status ring and a small display screen on the front panel.
LED Ring Status
- Green pulsing: Normal operation, generating solar power
- Green steady: Standby mode (normal at night or very low light)
- Yellow/Orange: Warning state. Check the display for details
- Red: Fault detected. Note the error code and refer to the troubleshooting section
Display Navigation
Press the button on the front panel to cycle through screens:
- NOW: Current power output in watts
- DAY: Energy produced today in kWh
- YEAR: Energy produced this calendar year
- TOTAL: Lifetime energy production
Quick Check
A quick press of the button cycles between screens. For detailed menus (network settings, error logs), press and hold for 3 seconds to enter the setup menu.
Connecting to WiFi
Fronius inverters include built-in WiFi for monitoring through the Solar.web platform.
Activate the Inverter's Hotspot
Press and hold the button on the inverter until the WiFi icon appears. The inverter broadcasts a network called "FRONIUS_[serial]".
Connect From Your Phone
Join the Fronius network from your phone's WiFi settings. Default password: "12345678".
Open the Configuration Page
In your phone's browser, navigate to
192.168.250.1. The Fronius setup wizard will load.Select Your Home WiFi
Go to Network Settings > WiFi, choose your home network, enter the password, and save.
Fronius Solar.web Monitoring
Once connected to WiFi, your inverter sends data to Fronius Solar.web. Create a free account at solarweb.com and register your inverter using its serial number (found on the label on the right side of the inverter, or in the display menu under "Device Information").
The Solar.web dashboard shows:
- Real-time power generation
- Historical production data (daily, monthly, yearly)
- Consumption data (if a Fronius Smart Meter is installed)
- System health and error notifications
Maintenance
Fronius inverters require minimal maintenance:
- Keep ventilation clear: Ensure at least 30cm clearance around all sides for airflow
- Keep dry: While IP65-rated for outdoor installation, avoid direct water spray on connections
- Firmware updates: These are applied automatically via WiFi or can be triggered through Solar.web
No User-Serviceable Parts
Do not open the inverter casing under any circumstances. There are no user-serviceable parts inside, and opening the case voids the warranty. Contact UV Power for any hardware issues.
