Setting Up Solar Monitoring

Last updated: 2026-03-08monitoringappWiFiperformance

Why Monitor Your System?

Solar monitoring lets you track your system's performance in real time from your phone or computer. You can see how much energy you're generating, how much you're consuming, what you're exporting to the grid, and whether any issues need attention. It's the best way to ensure your system is performing as expected.

Fronius Solar.web

If you have a Fronius inverter, the Solar.web platform is your monitoring dashboard.

  1. Connect Your Inverter to WiFi

Follow our WiFi connection guide to get your Fronius inverter online. It needs an active internet connection to send data to Solar.web.

  2. Create a Solar.web Account

Visit solarweb.com and create a free account. You'll need the inverter serial number (found on the inverter label or in the display menu).

  3. Register Your System

Add your system by entering the serial number. Solar.web will detect your inverter and begin syncing data.

  4. Download the App

Install the Fronius Solar.web app on your phone (available on iOS and Android) for on-the-go monitoring.

What You'll See

Solar.web shows real-time power output, daily/monthly/yearly energy production, consumption data (if a smart meter is installed), and system health alerts.

Sungrow iSolarCloud

For Sungrow inverters, the iSolarCloud platform provides comprehensive monitoring.

  1. Download iSolarCloud

Install the iSolarCloud app from the App Store or Google Play.

  2. Create an Account

Register with your email address. Use the installer's company code if prompted (your installer can provide this).

  3. Add Your Plant

Tap "Add Plant" and enter your inverter's serial number. The app will find your device and begin loading data.

  4. Explore the Dashboard

Browse real-time generation, historical data, and system alerts from the home screen.

What to Check Regularly

You don't need to check your monitoring daily, but a quick weekly glance helps catch issues early:

  • Daily production trends: Compare with previous weeks. A sudden drop may indicate a problem.
  • Error alerts: Both platforms notify you of inverter faults or communication issues.
  • Export vs. self-consumption ratio: If you're exporting a lot, consider shifting more usage to daylight hours.

Set Up Notifications

Both Fronius and Sungrow apps support push notifications for faults and production alerts. Enable these so you're notified immediately if something goes wrong.

Troubleshooting Monitoring Issues

If your monitoring stops updating:

  • Check that your inverter is connected to WiFi (see our WiFi connection guide)
  • Restart your router and check the inverter's network status
  • Ensure the monitoring platform isn't experiencing a temporary outage
  • If the issue persists for more than 24 hours, contact us for support

Monitoring data typically has a 5-15 minute delay. If you see a gap of a few minutes, that's normal behaviour.
