Connecting Your Inverter to WiFi

Why Connect to WiFi?

Connecting your inverter to WiFi enables real-time monitoring through your phone or computer. You can track production, receive fault alerts, and share system data with your installer for remote diagnostics. Most modern inverters include built-in WiFi connectivity.

Fronius Inverter WiFi Setup

  1. Access the Inverter's WiFi

On the Fronius inverter, press and hold the WiFi button (or navigate to the network settings via the display menu). The inverter will broadcast its own WiFi network, something like "FRONIUS_[serial]".

  2. Connect Your Phone to the Inverter

On your phone, go to WiFi settings and connect to the Fronius network. The default password is usually "12345678" (check your installation documentation).

  3. Open the Setup Page

Open a web browser on your phone and go to 192.168.250.1. This opens the Fronius inverter's built-in configuration page.

  4. Configure Your Home WiFi

Navigate to Network > WiFi and select your home WiFi network from the list. Enter your WiFi password and save.

  5. Verify Connection

The inverter will restart its network connection. After a minute, the WiFi indicator on the inverter should show a solid connection. Your phone should reconnect to your home WiFi automatically.

2.4GHz Only

Most solar inverters only support 2.4GHz WiFi networks, not 5GHz. If your router broadcasts both, make sure you're connecting the inverter to the 2.4GHz network (often labelled with "-2G" or without any suffix).

Sungrow Inverter WiFi Setup

  1. Download iSolarCloud

Install the Sungrow iSolarCloud app on your phone from the App Store or Google Play.

  2. Put the Inverter in Config Mode

On the inverter, long-press the WiFi/communication button until the WiFi indicator starts blinking rapidly. This enables configuration mode.

  3. Connect via the App

Open iSolarCloud and tap "Device Networking". The app will search for nearby inverters. Select yours from the list.

  4. Enter WiFi Credentials

The app will prompt you to select your home WiFi network and enter the password. Submit and wait for the connection to establish.

  5. Confirm in the App

Once connected, the inverter's WiFi indicator will show solid. In the app, your system should appear and begin loading data within a few minutes.

Troubleshooting WiFi Issues

Inverter won't find your network:

  • Move your router closer to the inverter or install a WiFi extender
  • Ensure you're using a 2.4GHz network
  • Check that your network name doesn't contain special characters

Connection drops frequently:

  • Check the signal strength: if the inverter is far from your router, a WiFi extender or powerline adapter may help
  • Reboot your router and the inverter
  • Ensure your router firmware is up to date

Changed Your WiFi Password?

If you change your home WiFi password or router, you'll need to repeat the setup process. The inverter won't automatically reconnect with new credentials.
